Thought i'd post these. They are from the Paint Mines near Calhan Colorado (about 30 minutes east of Colorado Springs).
They say native tribes would come to these mines to get different colors of pigments found in the very soft sand stone and use the pigments in their paintings and pottery.

I visit the Pikes Peak Cam page almost daily, but I don't post very often. One thing I did notice was that you had not posted for quite some time. I always enjoy your enthusiastic postings for Colorado, because I share the same enthusiam,, having lived there before.

As with you, my heart is always in the Rockies.

Have you found any dinosaur fossils??..............
